CONSTITUTION OF THE
WESTERN TENNESSEE CHAPTER,
AMERICAN STATISTICAL ASSOCIATION
ARTICLE I - Name
This organization shall be known as the Western Tennessee Chapter of the
American Statistical Association.
ARTICLE II - Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be to foster in the broadest manner
statistics and its applications, and to promote unity and effectiveness
of effort among all groups in the Western Tennessee area having an interest
in or being concerned with statistical problems.
ARTICLE III - Membership
The membership of this organization shall consist Full, Associate and Student
Members.
1. Full Members: Persons holding membership in the American Statistical
Association.
2. Associate Members: Persons interested in statistics in general or
the organization in particular, who are not also members of the American
Statistical Association.
3. Student Members: Persons admitted to membership who are full-time
undergraduate or graduate students at a local college or university. This
will include persons who are ASA student members. While these members pay
dues, they will not be permitted to vote in Chapter matters. (They may
apply for either Regular or Associate Membership).
Voting Members consist of Full and Associate Members
ARTICLE IV - Officers
The officers of the organization shall be a President, Vice President,
Secretary, Treasurer, and Representative to the Association's Council of
Chapters. All officers shall be full members.
The officers shall be duly elected during the annual meeting (Section
2 of the By-Laws) except that the Executive Committee shall fill any vacancy
which may occur between the elections in any office. The chapter reprentative
to the Council serves a 3 year term.
ARTICLE V - Executive Committee
The Executive Committee shall consist of the officers mentioned in Article
IV and the chairman of each of the standing committees. Meetings of the
Executive Committee shall be held whenever called by the President or requested
by a majority of the Committee members.
ARTICLE VI - Committees
The committees of the organization shall consist of the standing committees
mentioned below and of such special committees as may be appointed by the
President. Members of the standing committees shall be appointed by the
President with the approval of the Executive Committee and shall serve
until their successors are appointed. The standing committees shall be
a Program Committee and a Membership Committee.
ARTICLE VII - Meetings
There shall be six or more regular meetings in one year, including the
annual meeting, during which election of officers shall be held.
ARTICLE VIII - National Constitution and By-Laws
Any and all provisions of the Constitution and By-Laws of the American
Statistical Association shall be considered included herein for use where
applicable and necessary.
ARTICLE IX - Amendments
This constitution may be amended by affirmative 2/3 (two-thirds) vote of
the chapter members at any meeting of this organization, provided notices
of such meeting and of the proposed amendment shall have been sent to each
voting member at least two weeks before the date of the meeting in which
the proposed amendment is to be voted upon; or by action of the Board of
Directors of the American Statistical Association.
ARTICLE X - Dues
Dues shall be assessed and collected as specified in Section 1 of the By-Laws.
ARTICLE XI - Dissolute
In the event of dissolution of the Western Tennessee Chapter, the officers
shall, after paying or making provision for payment and discharge of all
of the liabilities of the Western Tennessee Chapter, distribute all of
the remaining net assets of said Chapter to the American Statistical Association
exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, and educational purposes.
The American Statistical Association is an exempt organization under
Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
BYLAWS OF THE WESTERN TENNESSEE CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN STATISTICAL
ASSOCIATION
Section 1. Dues. Dues shall be $5.00 per annum for Full and Associate
Members and $2.00 per annum for Student Members. Dues are to be paid in
to the duly elected treasurer of the Western Tennessee Chapter.
Section 2. Minutes of Meetings. Minutes of each business meeting will
be circulated to the members for approval at the next business meeting.
Annual meeting will be business meeting in October of each year.
